Rhinoplasty: Rhinoplasty, often known as a nose job, is the process of surgically reshaping the nose to achieve the perfect shape. It involves entering the nasal cavity through an incision within the nasal passages, and then remodeling the cartilage and bone to reshape the tip, bridge or nostrils. Septal surgery: Septal surgery includes procedures designed to treat a deviated septum, which is when the cartilage and bone that divides the nasal passages is misaligned. Nasal Reconstruction: Nasal reconstruction has overlaps with rhinoplasty surgery, but it is designed for those who are missing skin, lining tissue or cartilage due to an accident, cancer or excessive drug ingestion through the nose. While these techniques overlap with cosmetic procedures, nasal reconstruction often requires more time and sometimes multiple stages to reshape the nose and restore it to a complete nose. This procedure can sometimes be funded by the NHS, as it is medically necessary, but patients wishing for a shorter wait and a choice of surgeon can choose to pay for it privately.ย
Other Procedures: Nose reshaping is often carried out alongside other procedures, such as eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), a facelift / necklift (rhytidectomy or platysmaplasty) and chin implants (mentoplasty and genioplasty). Nose reshaping FAQs
Not every patient is suitable for rhinoplasty. Depending on your general health and aesthetic goals, there might be other procedures better suited to giving you the look you desire. Sinclair Gore will discuss your expectations and create a tailored treatment plan that meets your requirements.
Rhinoplasty and a nose job are the same thing. Rhinoplasty is the medical term for the procedure, while nose job is a colloquial term used to describe this and other nose reshaping procedures.
The position of your rhinoplasty scars will depend on the type of procedure you choose. Rhinoplasty comes in several forms, including open rhinoplasty, where the scars are located within the nostrils and across the skin bridge (the columella) between your nostrils, or closed rhinoplasty, where the scars are located entirely inside the nose. Sinclair Gore will discuss the type of procedures you would be suitable for and the location of any scars during your consultation, so youโll be able to make an informed decision and find the best procedure to suit your expectations.
