Brow Lift

There are several types of brow lift procedure available, depending on the reason for undertaking this surgery and your starting point. Greater degrees of brow droop or facial skin laxity may require more extensive solutions to achieve a good outcome.

While you can also have a non-surgical brow lift, most definitive brow lifts involve surgery, and can be carried out alongside other facial procedures, such as a facelift, eyelid surgery or nose reshaping to give you the youthful shape and aesthetic you desire. The most common indication for brow lift surgery in Mr Gore’s practice is to enhance the outcome of an upper blepharoplasty procedure, or as part of a facelift.

Some common types of brow lift that Mr Gore performs include:

Temporal Brow Lift: A temporal brow lift is carried out using small incisions just above the hairline in the temple to lift and reposition the skin on the temple, outer brow and lateral forehead. This technique leaves a scar that is hidden in the hairline. Different planes of separation and lifting are used depending on the indication for brow lift surgery.

Coronal Brow Lift (or Open Brow Lift): The classic brow lift involves a longer incision in the scalp but is unrivalled in its power to smoothen the temple and forehead in the setting of facial ageing. The scar is entirely hidden in the hair; this technique can subtly raise the hairline and this is a defining feature in terms of procedure selection.

Pre-trichial Brow Lift (or Foreheadplasty): This is used to smooth out the forehead and lift the brows, refreshing the whole forehead and brow region. It does not raise the hairline but does involve placing a scar at (or just behind) the junction between hairless forehead skin and the hair-bearing scalp. This is suitable for patients wanting forehead and brow rejuvenation but who have a high starting hairline, and is ideal for those with swept or fringe hairstyle.

Direct Brow Lift: A direct brow lift removes excess skin directly above the eyebrows, and is most effective in older patients with a skin type who can accept a scar in this location. Indications for this include brow asymmetry due to facial palsy or trauma or specific brow descent issues without other forehead or temple concerns.
