What Is An Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)?
Brachioplasty surgery, sometimes known as an arm lift or arm reduction surgery, is a procedure used to remove excess skin from the upper arm area. In some cases, arm lift surgery can be combined with liposuction to get rid of fat deposits that are hard to remove with exercise alone.
Most patients get brachioplasty following extreme weight loss, after which they often have significant loose upper arm skin that can cause unsightly ‘bingo wings’. Some patients have an arm lift to deal with sagging skin on their upper arms due to aging or genetic issues.
When combined with other body contouring procedures, such as abdominoplasty and breast reduction, brachioplasty procedures can produce a relatively quick result and give the patient a more refined physique without hanging skin and unsightly bulges, without excessive scarring.
Following the procedure, and depending on skin laxity and future weight gain, patients can see long-lasting results. Once fully healed, the final result can be impressive, especially if there was previously significant excess skin on the upper and inner arms.
