Types of breast lift
There are several different types of breast lift, and each one is used to get specific results for the patient.
Wise Pattern (Anchor, or Inverted-T) Lift: A Wise Pattern (anchor or inverted-T) lift is the most effective breast lift technique for significant breast sagging. In addition to a lollipop scar around the new nipple position and a vertical scar down the breast, an additional scar sits in the fold under the breast but this is typically hidden under the breast when standing or sitting upright. This technique is the most effective way to deal with excessive sagging and remove greater amounts of excess skin from the breast. It also provides an ability to reposition a greater amount of sagging breast tissue higher up the breast, given an unparalleled rejuvenating reconstruction. This technique can be used alongside breast augmentation for more significant breast laxity but the tissue repositioning it offers often means that implants may not be needed at all with this approach.
Circumvertical (Lollipop) Lift: A vertical or lollipop breast lift, sometimes known as a short scar lift or vertical scar mastopexy involves a scar that goes both around the nipple, but also extends vertically down the breast. This vertical scar often heals extremely neatly in the long term. While this does leave a different scar than other options, this technique makes for a more shapely breast due to the breast narrowing that is available and additional provision for breast tissue repositioning. This may be an effective solution for moderate breast sagging, and can be combined with breast augmentation in certain cases.
Other Options: Other breast lift types include a crescent lift, which involves making a small crescent shaped incisions above the top of the areola. This breast lift is often used for patients with minimal sagging, but cannot allow for substantial changes. Additionally, patients can explore a periareolar or doughnut breast lift, which involves making a circular incision around the areola, and then removing part of the nipple to access the breast tissue.

FAQ
Breast Lift FAQs
A boob job, or breast augmentation, involves using breast implants to make your breasts larger and more shapely. A breast lift doesnโt require implants, with the surgeon making the most of your existing breast tissue and removing excess skin to make your breasts more youthful and pert.
Since the incision is made around the areola, you will experience some change in the diameter of your nipple areola complex. This is often a desired outcome of surgery. Whilst the scars around your nipples typically heal neatly, this does result in a pigment change from your areola colour to your normal breast skin colour. This is a subtle difference compared to most women’s starting position, but the reduction in areola diameter is often a positive consequence of surgery. The sensation of your nipples may change following your breast lift. If this does happen, this typically improves gradually over time, and it is likely you will regain good sensation in your nipples. Sinclair Gore can discuss these changes with you further during your initial consultation.
Whilst ageing is an ongoing process, the results of a breast lift should be longlasting. The other important factors that affect your breasts after mastopexy surgery include weight loss, weight gain, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Sinclair Gore can help select the right treatment option that will give you the best possible chance of long-lasting results.
