Is Breast Reduction Surgery Painful?
Breast reduction surgery is usually not very painful directly following the procedure, but your breasts may feel tender and sore for some days. Sinclair Gore can recommend over-the-counter pain medication if necessary to help relieve the pain. This should subside after a few days.
What Breast Size Qualifies For A Reduction?
There is no set breast size that is best for a breast reduction. What matters is that you want to reduce the size of your breasts and create a different appearance for yourself. Your surgeon can discuss your aesthetic preferences and find the right procedure or combination of procedures to achieve your aims. There is a spectrum of breast operations including breast reduction and mastopexy, all of which include reducing the size of the breasts and rejuvenating the shape of the breasts. These are overlapping techniques, and depending on your starting point, any bespoke plan for you may have more reduction or lift components included.
How Long Does Breast Reduction Surgery Take To Heal?
It usually takes between 2 and 6 weeks to recover fully from breast reduction surgery. Whilst most women feel they are back to all their normal activities by six weeks after surgery, scar maturation typically takes over a year. Good scar management during that time is important to ensure you get the best outcome from your surgery. Soreness and tenderness in your breasts is relatively uncommon after the first few weeks have passed.
